Explanation of boiler related terms (II)

8. Shell boiler
A boiler whose heating surface is mainly arranged inside the shell (cylinder) is called a shell boiler, also known as a fire tube boiler
9. Horizontal boiler
A boiler whose longitudinal axis of the shell is parallel to the ground is called a horizontal boiler. It includes horizontal external combustion boilers and horizontal internal combustion boilers. The so-called horizontal external combustion boiler means that the furnace is located outside the drum, while the horizontal internal combustion boiler has the furnace located inside the drum.
10. Vertical boiler
A boiler whose longitudinal axis of the shell is perpendicular to the ground is called a vertical boiler. It includes a vertical water tube boiler and a vertical fire tube boiler. The vertical water tube boiler is a type of boiler where the flue gas flushes the outside of the pipe and transfers heat to the water inside the pipe. The vertical fire tube boiler is a type of boiler where the flue gas flows inside the pipe and transfers heat to the water outside the pipe, which is enclosed in the drum.
11. Hot water boiler
A boiler that heats water to a certain temperature but does not reach vaporization is called a hot water boiler. Generally used as a heating boiler.
12. Natural circulation boiler
A boiler that relies on the heavy difference between the water in the downcomer and the hot water or gas water mixture in the riser to circulate the boiler water is called a natural circulation boiler.
13. Forced circulation boiler
A boiler that mainly relies on the pressure head of the circulating water pump for boiler water circulation, in addition to relying on the heavy difference between the water in the downcomer and the medium in the riser, is called a forced circulation boiler.
14. Furnace
The space where combustion and heat transfer occur is called a furnace.
