The Causes and Solutions of Common Faults in Fuel Oil Burners
At present, various enterprises in the market have responded to China’s call to ban coal-fired boilers. As more and more coal-fired boilers are converted into biomass fuel. Our EBICO burner has received many inquiries from customers who are using biomass burner retrofits, mainly because many customers have just started using this environmentally friendly new equipment, and their technical proficiency or improper operation has caused some malfunctions. Today we will mainly talk about common fault causes and solutions.
Reasons and solutions for common faults of fuel oil burners:
1. The renovated boiler chimney suddenly emits black smoke
Reason: The main reason is that there is too much feeding, which cannot be burned and digested in a timely manner, resulting in insufficient combustion and black smoke.
Solution: Stop feeding for a few minutes, observe that the chimney exhaust is normal before starting normal feeding; Reduce the feeding speed to ensure that the chimney does not emit black smoke;
2. Spark rebounds at the pot mouth
Reason: The fuel burner equipment system used has too much ash and slag accumulation, poor exhaust, or the burner nozzle is blocked by carbon deposition.
Treatment method: Clean and dredge the accumulated ash and slag in the heat transfer system of the production line or in the burner nozzle. Generally used for 8 hours per working day, the slag accumulated in the equipment furnace or pipeline heat transfer system should be cleaned and dredged every 3 months. Also, remember not to purchase cheap particles of inferior quality.
Operation and special precautions of the fuel oil burner
1. The fuel must use pure wood particles with a diameter of 6-8mm. Do not use particulate fuels that contain too much ash and debris. Prevent foreign objects such as metals from entering the biological material warehouse during feeding! If equipment damage is caused by poor-quality fuel or iron entering the silo, it will affect the service life and warranty of the equipment.
2. The furnace of the modified coal-fired boiler or other drying line equipment is in a negative pressure state, and excessive positive pressure is strictly prohibited. If the positive pressure is too high, additional induced draft equipment should be installed;
3. When the fuel burner is running, the fuel tank cap must be closed to prevent waste. When stopping the furnace, be sure to close the shut-off valve to prevent a backfire;
4. When encountering material blockage or blockage during operation (usually caused by excessively long particles), a wooden stick can be used to poke it. Do not use iron wire or steel bars to prevent screws from getting stuck and causing damage to the screws;
5. Precautions for nozzle decking: When the burner is running for a long time, coking may occur near the nozzle. If this phenomenon occurs, it will seriously affect the operation of the burner. Severe damage to the burner! Therefore, regular inspections and decoking are necessary. (It is recommended to check every 3 to 7 days).
Method of coke removal: Remove the burner from the equipment and gently tap the coke block from the burner with a wooden or iron rod to separate it from the gasification chamber. (Be careful not to damage the gasification chamber and flue when removing coke.) Coking is closely related to fuel, so it is recommended to use pure wood fuel. That’s why we recommend customers purchase high-quality particles and not be greedy for small gains, as small losses can lead to big losses.
