What are the advantages of biomass fuel over coal carbon
What are the advantages of biomass fuel over coal carbon
The advantages of biomass fuel are as follows:
1. It has less carbon content and less fixed carbon. The highest carbon content in biomass fuels is only about 50%, which is equivalent to the carbon content of brown coal with less generation age. Especially, the content of fixed carbon is significantly lower than coal, and the calorific value is lower. Therefore, biomass fuel is not durable to burn;
2. It has a slightly higher hydrogen content and significantly more volatilization. Most of the carbon in biomass fuels combines with hydrogen to form low molecular weight hydrocarbons, which undergo thermal decomposition at a certain temperature and yield volatile compounds. So, biomass fuel is easily ignited, and in the early stages of combustion, the amount of precipitation is large, which can easily generate flames with black edges in the absence of sufficient air and temperature;
3. Low sulfur content. The sulfur content of biomass fuel is much higher than 0.2%, and there is no need to install a gas desulfurization device during combustion, which reduces costs and is beneficial for environmental protection;
4. Low density. The density of biomass fuel is significantly lower than that of coal, and the texture is relatively loose, especially for crop straw, which has a large volume;
5. Straw biomass contains a large amount of alkali metal elements (mainly potassium and sodium). During the biomass combustion process, it is mainly manifested as strong ash adhesion, easy slagging and blockage in the furnace, and ash accumulation on the tail heating surface;
6. Straw biomass contains a small amount of chlorine, and during combustion, a certain amount of HCl is produced, which corrodes the heating surface at the tail end.
