What are the Advantages of Boiling Combustion Furnace?

Boiling combustion and layer combustion are the main differences between the fuels burned. In a boiling furnace, the fuel is not coal or coal powder, but coal powder with a particle size of less than 10mm. This coal powder is not fixed on the grate and burned, nor is it suspended in the air and burned, but it is burned at a certain height with a certain amount of up and down movement. It is just because of this new type of combustion that it has some advantages that are not found in layer and coal powder combustion. These advantages are mainly as follows.

(1) Stable combustion, wide adaptability to fuels

The boiling furnace uses coal powder with a particle size of less than 10mm to work, and the combustion area is very large. The particles in the furnace have a long residence time, a large heat storage capacity, and a strong mixing. Therefore, ignition and combustion are very stable, and they can work with poor-quality fuels that contain a lot of ash, a lot of moisture, and low volatile content. It is also advantageous to work with fuels with low melting points and high alkali contents. Therefore, this type of combustion can use a wide range of fuels, and the adaptability of the fuel is very wide.

(2) Strong heat transfer in the boiling bed, can save heat exchanger steel

The heat transfer surface in the boiling bed is due to the rolling movement of particles, so the heat transfer performance is very good, with a heat transfer coefficient of 230~290W/(m2·K), which is 3~4 times the general convection heat transfer coefficient. This value is about 3 to 4 times that of the general convection heat transfer coefficient, so it can greatly save the amount of steel used for heat exchangers.

(3) Fewer pollutants are emitted, and it is beneficial to environmental protection

The temperature in the boiling bed is lower, so the amount of NO generated is smaller, and it can greatly reduce the pollution of NOx in the atmosphere.

(4) High volumetric heat intensity, small boiler volume

The volumetric heat intensity of the boiling furnace is very high, and the boiler volume can be as high as 15-080W@1, which is about 5 times that of an ordinary coal powder furnace, and the heat transfer coefficient is also large, so the boiler volume is small. Compared with a coal powder furnace, the volume can be reduced by about 2/3, and the cost can be reduced by about 15%.

The ash produced by the furnace has the characteristics of “low-temperature penetration”, so it will not solidify and cake, and can be used as building materials such as water pipes and plastics, or as fillers for concrete and plastics, or for other comprehensive utilization.
