What Measures Can Effectively Prevent Flashback in Hydrogen Burners?
The methods for preventing flashback in hydrogen burners are based on reducing the rate of flame propagation, increasing the exit velocity of the mixture, and ensuring a uniform velocity field. The measures for flashback adopted in production mainly include the following aspects:
1. According to the properties of the gas, the combustion mode should be reasonably selected. For gases with a high content of hydrogen, atmospheric combustion, and flameless combustion should not be used.
2. When using dirty gas, a purification device (such as a filter) should be set up. When the purification device still cannot prevent the clogging of the gas nozzle and mixing tube, the combustion device should be degreased, or a structure that is easy to clean up should be used, and a regular cleaning operation system should be established.
3. When using water-containing gas, a water separator should be installed to avoid freezing of the gas nozzle and mixing tube in cold weather.
4. When the furnace operates at a low load, some burners should be turned off to ensure that the load of the operating burners is not less than the minimum allowed load.
5. In this process, the minimum pressure value should be determined according to the properties of the gas and the form of the burner. When the gas pressure drops to the lower limit, the operation should be stopped to ensure that the exit velocity of the gas-air mixture is not less than the rate of flame propagation.
6. According to the properties of the gas, the structure of the burner, and the process, if a flashback occurs due to the high temperature of the burner head, the burner head can be cooled to reduce the rate of flame propagation.
