Which is more efficient, an electric steam generator or a gas steam generator
Electric steam generators are more efficient than gas steam generators. Electric steam generators are directly heated with low heat loss, while gas steam generators belong to indirect heating with various heat losses, such as exhaust heat loss and incomplete combustion heat loss.
1. Smoke exhaust heat loss: The high exhaust temperature of the gas steam generator means that some of the heat converted from the fuel is carried away by the smoke, causing heat loss. The higher the exhaust temperature, the greater the corresponding heat loss.
2. Incomplete combustion heat loss: Due to the nature of the fuel or the combustion condition of the steam generator not meeting the requirements, some combustible gases may be discharged with the flue gas before they can burn, resulting in incomplete combustion heat loss of the fuel.
The above two forms of heat loss greatly affect the efficiency of gas steam generators, while qualified fuel and good combustion conditions can effectively reduce heat loss and improve the efficiency of gas steam generators.
So, compared with gas steam generators, electric steam generators have higher efficiency, mainly because gas steam generators have a lot of heat loss during energy conversion and transmission.
